Please Help Me Choose
The sole purpose of me building this website was to sell my parents’ McIntosh Sideboard which I managed to do last month. I have now been wondering what to do with the site.
It looks like I have three choices and I would be grateful if you would take the time to vote on which option you think I should take. I have outlined what I think are my three options below with a short voting form below that. Any help in deciding what I do with the site would be much appreciated.
Option 1 – Let the Domain Lapse and the Site to Close
This was what I had always planned to do. Having fulfilled its purpose my original thought was just to let it go. The cost of the domain and hosting is a factor but not an overly important one if other options are worthwhile. Comments from visitors and how well the site does in the search rankings has made me consider the other options below.
Option 2 – Try to Build the Site Further into a Useful Resource For Those Interested in McIntosh Furniture
Over the two years that I have had the site I have had many questions from visitors related to :
- Identifying pieces of furniture
- Identifying which wood is used to make their furniture
- Where to sell a similar piece to me
- Where to buy McIntosh Furniture
- Where to find replacement hinges for doors and more
I have built up my own knowledge of McIntosh furniture in that time and although I am far from being the only source of information on the subject, I have enjoyed the process. I have built up the FAQs page based on these questions.
I feel that if the site is helpful for others then perhaps it would be a shame to let it go and building it into a more informative site would be the way to go.
Option 3 – Sell the domain and/or site
Although not an expert in ‘flipping’ websites or domains it is another option so thought I would research the possibilities.
The domain mcintoshsideboard.co.uk is an established website focused on McIntosh furniture, attracting ~180 targeted visitors a month (verified via Google Search Console – and increasing).
The site ranks on page one of Google for multiple McIntosh-related keywords and has received genuine user engagement and positive comments.
